Spiegal Grove

The Spiegel Grove, a decommissioned amphibious warfare ship measuring an impressive 510 feet in length and 80 feet wide, was destined to become an artificial reef off Key Largo, Florida. However, during the sinking process in 2001, it capsized unexpectedly. After a challenging salvage operation, the wreck opened to divers, attracting significant attention. In 2005, Hurricane Dennis miraculously shifted the wreck upright, aligning its massive bulk perfectly as intended. Now resting in approximately 130 feet of water, with its superstructure starting at 70 feet, the Spiegel Grove features openings cut open like Swiss cheese, inviting divers to explore thrilling swim-throughs and penetrations. As one of the premier dive sites in the area, the Spiegel Grove continues to captivate adventurers from around the world with its fascinating features and underwater allure.
